Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Ed Mell was auctioned at Phillips in New York in September this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 22,860.00 (€ 21,598.64). Other works by Ed Mell have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in November this year by the work Red Rock Cloud Drift at USD 38,400.00 (€ 35,203.52).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Ed Mell im September diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 22.860,00 (€ 21.598,64) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Ed Mell wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im November diesen Jahres die Arbeit Red Rock Cloud Drift mit USD 38.400,00 (€ 35.203,52).
