In October 2003 Christies in London held the auction British Works on Paper, which included the work The Doge's Palace and the Campanile of St. Mark's from the Grand Canal, Venice by Ebenezer Wake Cook. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,702.50 (€ 3,947.25), 35% above the upper estimate. Other works by Ebenezer Wake Cook have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 3,840.00 (€ 5,702.52) in November 2006 for the work Elaine.
