In the Travel, Science and Natural History auction, the work The Night-Blowing Cereus, by Dunkarton sold for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,356.46) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert John Thornton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Temple of Flora: six plates, which sold at auction in January 2011 for USD 16,250.00 (€ 11,848.34).
