Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2012 Christies in London held the auction Travel, Science and Natural History, which included the work The White Lily with Variegated-leaves, Stadler by Robert John Thornton. The price achieved of GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,226.47) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Admittedly, works by Robert John Thornton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Temple of Flora: six plates in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 16,250.00 (€ 11,848.34).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion Travel, Science and Natural History durch, in der auch die Arbeit The White Lily with Variegated-leaves, Stadler von Robert John Thornton zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.000,00 (€ 1.226,47) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Robert John Thornton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Temple of Flora: six plates im Januar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 16.250,00 (€ 11.848,34).
