The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,150.80), 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert John Thornton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Temple of Flora: six plates in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 16,250.00 (€ 11,848.34).

Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.000,00 (€ 1.150,80) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Robert John Thornton erzielen.
