Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The American Cowslip; Large Flowering Sensitive Plant; and The American Aloe, by Warner, Stadler and Medland by Robert John Thornton was sold in the Travel, Science and Natural History auction at Christies in London in April 2010. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,750.00 (€ 2,013.91) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00. Admittedly, works by Robert John Thornton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Temple of Flora: six plates in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 16,250.00 (€ 11,848.34).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The American Cowslip; Large Flowering Sensitive Plant; and The American Aloe, by Warner, Stadler and Medland von Robert John Thornton wurde im April 2010 in der Auktion Travel, Science and Natural History bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 1.750,00 (€ 2.013,91) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.200,00 – 1.800,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Robert John Thornton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Temple of Flora: six plates im Januar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 16.250,00 (€ 11.848,34).
