Auction result well in line with expectations

In April 2010 Christies in London held the auction Travel, Science and Natural History, which included the work The Persian Cyclamen; A Group of Carnations; and The Maggot-bearing Stapelia by Robert John Thornton. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,125.00 (€ 1,294.65) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Admittedly, works by Robert John Thornton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Temple of Flora: six plates in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 16,250.00 (€ 11,848.34).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Im April 2010 führte Christies in London die Auktion Travel, Science and Natural History durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Persian Cyclamen; A Group of Carnations; and The Maggot-bearing Stapelia von Robert John Thornton zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 1.125,00 (€ 1.294,65) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Robert John Thornton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Temple of Flora: six plates im Januar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 16.250,00 (€ 11.848,34).
