This artwork by Robert John Thornton achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in September 2010. In the Travel, Science and Natural History auction, the work Tulips; and A group of Carnations sold for GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,048.12) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert John Thornton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Temple of Flora: six plates, which sold at auction in January 2011 for USD 16,250.00 (€ 11,848.34).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Robert John Thornton erzielte im September 2010 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Travel, Science and Natural History wurde die Arbeit Tulips; and A group of Carnations für GBP 3.500,00 (€ 4.048,12) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.500,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Robert John Thornton mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Temple of Flora: six plates beobachtet, die im Januar 2011 für USD 16.250,00 (€ 11.848,34) versteigert wurde.
