The work Oxymoron by Dorothea Rockburne was sold in the 20th C. & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session auction at Phillips in New York in November 2019. The »bidding war« ended at USD 93,750.00 (€ 85,080.32), 56% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Dorothea Rockburne; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Black and White sold at auction in November last year with the realized price of USD 119,700.00 (€ 115,954.66).
