Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Shibboleth I-IV by Doris Salcedo was sold in the A Life Among Artists: Contemporary Photographs from an Esteemed Private Collection auction at Sothebys in New York in September 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 10,080.00 (€ 8,706.92) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Doris Salcedo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 665,000.00 (€ 629,615.60).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Shibboleth I-IV von Doris Salcedo wurde im September 2021 in der Auktion A Life Among Artists: Contemporary Photographs from an Esteemed Private Collection bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 10.080,00 (€ 8.706,92) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Doris Salcedo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 665.000,00 (€ 629.615,60).
