In October 2011 Christies in London held the auction Modern and Contemporary Australian Art with Works by 20th Century African Artists, which included the work Studies of a male nude by Donald Stuart Leslie Friend. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,050.58), 17% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Donald Stuart Leslie Friend achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Ayam2 Kesayangan: 1 A Miscellanea 1968-1978 in May 2007 with an auction result of AUD 336,000.00 (€ 206,600.16).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Oktober 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Australian Art with Works by 20th Century African Artists durch, in der auch die Arbeit Studies of a male nude von Donald Stuart Leslie Friend zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 3.500,00 (€ 4.050,58) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Donald Stuart Leslie Friend erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Ayam2 Kesayangan: 1 A Miscellanea 1968-1978 im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 336.000,00 (€ 206.600,16).
