Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2011 Christies in London held the auction Modern and Contemporary Australian Art with Works by 20th Century African Artists, which included the work Nude studies; and Two seated male nudes by Donald Stuart Leslie Friend. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,625.00 (€ 1,880.63) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Donald Stuart Leslie Friend achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Ayam2 Kesayangan: 1 A Miscellanea 1968-1978 in May 2007 with an auction result of AUD 336,000.00 (€ 206,600.16).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Australian Art with Works by 20th Century African Artists durch, in der auch die Arbeit Nude studies; and Two seated male nudes von Donald Stuart Leslie Friend zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.625,00 (€ 1.880,63) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Donald Stuart Leslie Friend erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Ayam2 Kesayangan: 1 A Miscellanea 1968-1978 im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 336.000,00 (€ 206.600,16).
