The »bidding war« ended at AUD 10,800.00 (€ 6,585.59), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Donald Stuart Leslie Friend achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Ayam2 Kesayangan: 1 A Miscellanea 1968-1978 in May 2007 with an auction result of AUD 336,000.00 (€ 206,600.16).

Die Arbeit Australian Trincomalee, The Boy From The Fort von Donald Stuart Leslie Friend wurde im November 2009 in der Auktion Important Australian Art bei Sothebys in Melbourne versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 10.800,00 (€ 6.585,59) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Donald Stuart Leslie Friend erzielen.
