Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Flight into Egypt by Doménikos Theotokópoulos was sold in the IMPORTANT OLD MASTER PICTURES auction at Christies in London in December 2000. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,200,000.00 – 1,800,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,323,750.00 (€ 2,108,721.91) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Doménikos Theotokópoulos have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Saint Dominic In Prayer in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 9,154,500.00 (€ 10,460,611.84).

Die Arbeit The Flight into Egypt von Doménikos Theotokópoulos wurde im Dezember 2000 in der Auktion IMPORTANT OLD MASTER PICTURES bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.200.000,00 – 1.800.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.323.750,00 (€ 2.108.721,91) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Doménikos Theotokópoulos auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Saint Dominic In Prayer im Juli 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 9.154.500,00 (€ 10.460.611,84).
