Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Saint Francis of Assisi in Ecstasy |《亞西西聖方濟各的狂喜》 by Doménikos Theotokópoulos was sold in the Old Masters Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2020. The price achieved of GBP 595,800.00 (€ 665,561.70) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 500,000.00 – 700,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Doménikos Theotokópoulos achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Saint Dominic In Prayer in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 9,154,500.00 (€ 10,460,611.84).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 595.800,00 (€ 665.561,70) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 500.000,00 – 700.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Doménikos Theotokópoulos erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Saint Dominic In Prayer im Juli 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 9.154.500,00 (€ 10.460.611,84).
