Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Christ On The Cross by Doménikos Theotokópoulos was sold in the Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in London in July 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000,000.00 – 5,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,442,500.00 (€ 3,933,656.26) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Doménikos Theotokópoulos - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Saint Dominic In Prayer, which sold at auction in July 2013 for GBP 9,154,500.00 (€ 10,460,611.84).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Christ On The Cross von Doménikos Theotokópoulos wurde im Juli 2013 in der Auktion Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000.000,00 – 5.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.442.500,00 (€ 3.933.656,26) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
