Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, in black, his right hand resting on a book by Doménikos Theotokópoulos was sold in the Old Masters Evening Sale auction at Christies in London in December 2021. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 1,200,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 1,222,500.00 (€ 1,458,186.08). Admittedly, works by Doménikos Theotokópoulos have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Saint Dominic In Prayer in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 9,154,500.00 (€ 10,460,611.84).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, in black, his right hand resting on a book von Doménikos Theotokópoulos wurde im Dezember 2021 in der Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 1.200.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 1.222.500,00 (€ 1.458.186,08) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Doménikos Theotokópoulos auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Saint Dominic In Prayer im Juli 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 9.154.500,00 (€ 10.460.611,84).
