Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2015 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings: Part I, which included the work Saint Joseph by Doménikos Theotokópoulos. The price achieved of USD 2,741,000.00 (€ 2,427,812.22) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 2,000,000.00 – 3,000,000.00. Admittedly, works by Doménikos Theotokópoulos have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Saint Dominic In Prayer in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 9,154,500.00 (€ 10,460,611.84).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2015 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Master Paintings: Part I durch, in der auch die Arbeit Saint Joseph von Doménikos Theotokópoulos zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 2.741.000,00 (€ 2.427.812,22) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 2.000.000,00 – 3.000.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Doménikos Theotokópoulos auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Saint Dominic In Prayer im Juli 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 9.154.500,00 (€ 10.460.611,84).
