This work of art by Doménikos Theotokópoulos could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in January 2013 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Property from the Estate of Giancarlo Baroni auction, the work The Entombment Of Christ changed hands for USD 902,500.00 (€ 664,384.57) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Doménikos Theotokópoulos achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Saint Dominic In Prayer in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 9,154,500.00 (€ 10,460,611.84).
