Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Fruit On A Table by Derrick Greaves was auctioned at Sothebys in London in April 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 5,625.00 (€ 6,679.78). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Derrick Greaves - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Labourers with dog, which sold at auction in February 2007 for GBP 18,000.00 (€ 26,684.35).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Fruit On A Table von Derrick Greaves im April 2017 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 5.625,00 (€ 6.679,78) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Derrick Greaves mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Labourers with dog beobachtet, die im Februar 2007 für GBP 18.000,00 (€ 26.684,35) versteigert wurde.
