Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Still Life - Orange Background by Derrick Greaves was auctioned at Bonhams in London in April 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,187.50 (€ 3,666.55). Admittedly, works by Derrick Greaves have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Labourers with dog in February 2007 with an auction result of GBP 18,000.00 (€ 26,684.35).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Still Life - Orange Background von Derrick Greaves im April 2021 bei Bonhams in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 3.187,50 (€ 3.666,55) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Derrick Greaves auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Labourers with dog im Februar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 18.000,00 (€ 26.684,35).
