Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Cathedral by Dean Byington was auctioned at Phillips in New York in September 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,500.00 (€ 2,602.42). Admittedly, works by Dean Byington have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Greenhouses in March 2017 with an auction result of USD 13,750.00 (€ 12,852.87).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Cathedral von Dean Byington im September 2011 bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 3.500,00 (€ 2.602,42) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Dean Byington auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Greenhouses im März 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 13.750,00 (€ 12.852,87).
