Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Grandfather'S Chair (5/7); Gropius Lounge Chair (6/7) by Dayanita Singh was sold in the An Auction to Benefit the Kolkata Museum of Modern Art auction at Sothebys in New York in July 2007. The price achieved of USD 12,000.00 (€ 8,752.10) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Dayanita Singh - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Asiatic Library, Bombay, 2000, which sold at auction in September last year for USD 17,640.00 (€ 18,031.28).
