Auction result misses estimated price range
In September last year a collector was able to acquire the work First Communion, Saligao, 2000 by Dayanita Singh for USD 3,200.00 (€ 3,270.98). This price was achieved in the auction Centering the Figure: South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art from the Collection of Romi Lamba at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Dayanita Singh have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Asiatic Library, Bombay, 2000 in September last year with an auction result of USD 17,640.00 (€ 18,031.28).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im September letzten Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit First Communion, Saligao, 2000 von Dayanita Singh für USD 3.200,00 (€ 3.270,98) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Centering the Figure: South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art from the Collection of Romi Lamba bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Dayanita Singh auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Asiatic Library, Bombay, 2000 im September letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 17.640,00 (€ 18.031,28).
