In September last year Christies in New York held the auction Post-War to Present, which included the work Untitled (Gorilla) by David Wojnarowicz. The »bidding war« ended at USD 252,000.00 (€ 257,589.70), 40% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by David Wojnarowicz have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Earth, Wind, Fire And Water in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 1,515,000.00 (€ 1,337,984.63).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 40 % übertroffen
Im September letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War to Present durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Gorilla) von David Wojnarowicz zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 252.000,00 (€ 257.589,70) und damit 40% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von David Wojnarowicz auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Earth, Wind, Fire And Water im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.515.000,00 (€ 1.337.984,63).
