Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by David Johnson could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in May last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the The American Scene including Important Photographs from the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation auction, the work Near Hague, Lake George changed hands for USD 3,780.00 (€ 3,522.50) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Johnson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View From New Windsor, Hudson River in May 2012 with an auction result of USD 722,500.00 (€ 584,357.81).
