Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2024 a collector was able to acquire the work Sketch from Nature: Pear Tree in Blossom by David Johnson for USD 2,520.00 (€ 2,202.41). This price was achieved in the auction 19th Century American & Western Art at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Johnson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View From New Windsor, Hudson River in May 2012 with an auction result of USD 722,500.00 (€ 584,357.81).
