In July 2009 Christies in London held the auction Old Masters & 19th Century ArtDay Sale, which included the work Group portrait of Emma, Countess of Tankerville (1752-1836), and her daughters Caroline (1772-1818) and Anna (1774-1836), small full length-length, in a wooded landscape by Daniel Gardner. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 15,000.00 (€ 17,020.50), 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Daniel Gardner achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Mary Whitbread, Later Lady Grey (1770-1858) in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 233,000.00 (€ 330,315.74).
