This artwork by Cornelis van Noorde achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Amsterdam in December 2010. In the European Noble and Private Collections incl. Fine Paintings auction, the work Townspeople and cattle near a ruin sold for EUR 1,375.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 700.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Cornelis van Noorde; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The dunes of Zandvoort, overlooking the beach with stranded fishing-boats sold at auction in November 2000 with the realized price of NLG 5,616.96 (€ 2,631.46).
