Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait de femme (coiffée en turban) by Constantin Brancusi was auctioned at Sothebys in Paris in April last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 189,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Constantin Brancusi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La jeune fille sophistiquée (Portrait de Nancy Cunard) in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 71,187,500.00 (€ 61,000,428.45).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Portrait de femme (coiffée en turban) von Constantin Brancusi im April letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in Paris versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 189.000,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Constantin Brancusi erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit La jeune fille sophistiquée (Portrait de Nancy Cunard) im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 71.187.500,00 (€ 61.000.428,45).
