Description
CONRAD MARCA-RELLI (1913-2000) S-X-5-78 signed 'MARCA-RELLI' (lower right); signed again and titled 'MARCA-RELLI S-X-5-78' (on the reverse) oil, burlap and canvas collage on canvas mounted to board 17 1 ⁄ 2 x 21 1 ⁄ 4 in. (42 x 50.8 cm) Executed in 1978. This work is registered with the Archivio Marca-Relli under the number MR-6267.
Auction result well in line with expectations
In December last year Christies in New York held the auction First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art, which included the work S-X-5-78 by Conrad Marca-Relli. The price achieved of USD 25,200.00 (€ 23,555.80) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Conrad Marca-Relli achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work St. Cyprian's Day in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 1,105,000.00 (€ 710,154.24).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit S-X-5-78 von Conrad Marca-Relli zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 25.200,00 (€ 23.555,80) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Conrad Marca-Relli erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit St. Cyprian's Day im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.105.000,00 (€ 710.154,24).
