Auction result well in line with expectations
The work PH-1033 by Clyfford Still was sold in the Post-War and Contemporary Evening Sale auction at Christies in New York in May 2014. The price achieved of USD 17,525,000.00 (€ 12,848,240.47) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 15,000,000.00 – 20,000,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Clyfford Still - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 1949-A-No . 1, which sold at auction in November 2011 for USD 61,682,500.00 (€ 45,850,367.95).
