Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Open End by Clement Meadmore was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,250.00 (€ 5,599.35). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Clement Meadmore achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Upcast in September 2008 with an auction result of USD 134,500.00 (€ 95,518.78).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Open End von Clement Meadmore im September 2015 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 6.250,00 (€ 5.599,35) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Clement Meadmore erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Upcast im September 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 134.500,00 (€ 95.518,78).
