Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Allegory of America by Claude Gillot was sold in the A Fine Line: Master Works on Paper from Five Centuries auction at Sothebys in London in July 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 15,120.00 (€ 17,731.34) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Claude Gillot have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Figures In An Elegant Interior Watching An Entertainment With Commedia Dell'Arte Characters in January 2016 with an auction result of USD 106,250.00 (€ 98,089.00).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Allegory of America von Claude Gillot wurde im Juli 2021 in der Auktion A Fine Line: Master Works on Paper from Five Centuries bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 15.120,00 (€ 17.731,34) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
