Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master and British Works on Paper, including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection, which included the work A pair of double sided drawings: Costume designs (recto); Arabesques designs (verso) by Claude Gillot. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 10,710.00 (€ 11,964.02), 19% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Claude Gillot have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Figures In An Elegant Interior Watching An Entertainment With Commedia Dell'Arte Characters in January 2016 with an auction result of USD 106,250.00 (€ 98,089.00).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master and British Works on Paper, including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit A pair of double sided drawings: Costume designs (recto); Arabesques designs (verso) von Claude Gillot zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 10.710,00 (€ 11.964,02) und damit 19% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Claude Gillot auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Figures In An Elegant Interior Watching An Entertainment With Commedia Dell'Arte Characters im Januar 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 106.250,00 (€ 98.089,00).
