Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction A Fine Line: Master Works on Paper from Five Centuries, which included the work Allegory of Asia by Claude Gillot. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 15,120.00 (€ 17,731.34) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Claude Gillot have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Figures In An Elegant Interior Watching An Entertainment With Commedia Dell'Arte Characters in January 2016 with an auction result of USD 106,250.00 (€ 98,089.00).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion A Fine Line: Master Works on Paper from Five Centuries durch, in der auch die Arbeit Allegory of Asia von Claude Gillot zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 15.120,00 (€ 17.731,34) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Claude Gillot auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Figures In An Elegant Interior Watching An Entertainment With Commedia Dell'Arte Characters im Januar 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 106.250,00 (€ 98.089,00).
