In May 2016 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale), which included the work Still Life with Plum Blossoms by Chua Ek Kay. The result of HKD 150,000.00 (€ 17,337.22) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of HKD 150,000.00 – 200,000.00. Admittedly, works by Chua Ek Kay have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Archipelago 1, 2, & 3 in November 2015 with an auction result of HKD 875,000.00 (€ 106,868.96).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Mai 2016 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) durch, in der auch die Arbeit Still Life with Plum Blossoms von Chua Ek Kay zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von HKD 150.000,00 (€ 17.337,22) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von HKD 150.000,00 – 200.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Chua Ek Kay auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Archipelago 1, 2, & 3 im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 875.000,00 (€ 106.868,96).
