In May 2016 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale), which included the work Reflections of the Lotus Pond by Chua Ek Kay. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 437,500.00 (€ 50,566.91), 25% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Chua Ek Kay - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Archipelago 1, 2, & 3, which sold at auction in November 2015 for HKD 875,000.00 (€ 106,868.96).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2016 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) durch, in der auch die Arbeit Reflections of the Lotus Pond von Chua Ek Kay zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 437.500,00 (€ 50.566,91) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Chua Ek Kay mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Archipelago 1, 2, & 3 beobachtet, die im November 2015 für HKD 875.000,00 (€ 106.868,96) versteigert wurde.
