Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Tanah Mati by Christine Ay Tjoe was auctioned at Phillips in Hong Kong in November last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 252,000.00 (€ 31,271.14). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Christine Ay Tjoe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Layer As A Hiding Place in May last year with an auction result of HKD 13,050,000.00 (€ 1,549,315.07).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Tanah Mati von Christine Ay Tjoe im November letzten Jahres bei Phillips in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 300.000,00 – 500.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 252.000,00 (€ 31.271,14) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Christine Ay Tjoe erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Layer As A Hiding Place im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 13.050.000,00 (€ 1.549.315,07).
