Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
When the work The Highest Player 01 by Christine Ay Tjoe was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in November last year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 2,000,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at HKD 10,290,000.00 (€ 1,276,904.97). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Christine Ay Tjoe; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Layer As A Hiding Place sold at auction in May last year with the realized price of HKD 13,050,000.00 (€ 1,549,315.07).
Kunstwerk zum Fünffachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit The Highest Player 01 von Christine Ay Tjoe im November letzten Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 2.000.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 10.290.000,00 (€ 1.276.904,97) mehr als fünfmal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Christine Ay Tjoe; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Layer As A Hiding Place im Mai letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 13.050.000,00 (€ 1.549.315,07).
