Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Lightness of Being (Fluoro 2) by Chris Levine was auctioned at Phillips in London in September this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 7,000.00 – 9,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 6,350.00 (€ 6,350.00). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Chris Levine achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lightness Of Being, 2004 in April 2017 with an auction result of GBP 187,500.00 (€ 222,659.48).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Lightness of Being (Fluoro 2) von Chris Levine im September diesen Jahres bei Phillips in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 7.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 6.350,00 (€ 6.350,00) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Chris Levine erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Lightness Of Being, 2004 im April 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 187.500,00 (€ 222.659,48).
