This artwork by Cheng Zhengkui achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2018. In the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy auction, the work Kiosk under Willow sold for HKD 437,500.00 (€ 47,798.84) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 200,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cheng Zhengkui - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Calligraphy In Running Script, which sold at auction in October 2014 for HKD 1,180,000.00 (€ 121,484.44).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Cheng Zhengkui erzielte im Mai 2018 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy wurde die Arbeit Kiosk under Willow für HKD 437.500,00 (€ 47.798,84) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 200.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Cheng Zhengkui mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Calligraphy In Running Script beobachtet, die im Oktober 2014 für HKD 1.180.000,00 (€ 121.484,44) versteigert wurde.
