This artwork by Charles Webster Hawthorne achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in December 2005. In the Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction, the work Fisherman and his Daughter sold for USD 114,000.00 (€ 96,267.52) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Webster Hawthorne - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portuguese Fisherboy, which sold at auction in May 2015 for USD 298,000.00 (€ 271,056.94).
