Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Family by Charles Webster Hawthorne was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 87,500.00 (€ 77,909.36) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Webster Hawthorne - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portuguese Fisherboy, which sold at auction in May 2015 for USD 298,000.00 (€ 271,056.94).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Family von Charles Webster Hawthorne kam im Juni 2020 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 87.500,00 (€ 77.909,36) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Charles Webster Hawthorne mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portuguese Fisherboy beobachtet, die im Mai 2015 für USD 298.000,00 (€ 271.056,94) versteigert wurde.
