Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Walt Whitman Books, Manuscripts and Photographs in the Oscar Lion Collection of the New York Public Library by Charles Sheeler was sold in the Photographs auction at Phillips in New York in April 2021. The price achieved of USD 10,080.00 (€ 8,379.05) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Sheeler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work White Sentinels in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 2,232,500.00 (€ 1,913,024.85).
