This artwork by Charles Chaplin achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2017. In the 19th Century European Art auction, the work The quill sold for GBP 21,250.00 (€ 24,902.90) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Chaplin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Le rêve: The dream, which sold at auction in July 2008 for GBP 55,250.00 (€ 70,195.75).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 77 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Charles Chaplin erzielte im März 2017 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 19th Century European Art wurde die Arbeit The quill für GBP 21.250,00 (€ 24.902,90) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 12.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Charles Chaplin mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Le rêve: The dream beobachtet, die im Juli 2008 für GBP 55.250,00 (€ 70.195,75) versteigert wurde.
