Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Les joueurs de lotto by Charles Chaplin was auctioned at Christies in New York in April 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 16,250.00 (€ 14,558.32). Admittedly, works by Charles Chaplin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Le rêve: The dream in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 55,250.00 (€ 70,195.75).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Les joueurs de lotto von Charles Chaplin im April 2015 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 16.250,00 (€ 14.558,32) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Chaplin auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Le rêve: The dream im Juli 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 55.250,00 (€ 70.195,75).
