In July 2008 Christies in London held the auction 19th Century European Art including Orientalist and Spanish Art, which included the work Le rêve: The dream by Charles Chaplin. The price achieved of GBP 55,250.00 (€ 70,195.75) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Le rêve: The dream is the most expensive artwork by Charles Chaplin that we have observed at auctions so far.
