Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Crooked Rose; and Poem on his Birthday, from Twelve Lithographs for Six Poems by Dylan Thomas (S. 48; 57); Clair de Lune (S. 61); and Peu à Peu Sortant de la Brume (Gradually Emerging from the Mist) (S. 62) by Ceri Richards was auctioned at Phillips in London in September last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fac Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ceri Richards achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Interior in June 2017 with an auction result of GBP 175,000.00 (€ 199,292.35).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Ceri Richards konnte im September letzten Jahres bei Phillips in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Evening & Day Editions wechselte die Arbeit The Crooked Rose; and Poem on his Birthday, from Twelve Lithographs for Six Poems by Dylan Thomas (S. 48; 57); Clair de Lune (S. 61); and Peu à Peu Sortant de la Brume (Gradually Emerging from the Mist) (S. 62) für GBP 441,00 (€ 501,90) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ceri Richards erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Interior im Juni 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 175.000,00 (€ 199.292,35).
