This artwork by Cecily Brown achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March this year. In the Post-War to Present auction, the work The querulous mew sold for USD 346,500.00 (€ 318,708.61) - well above the upper estimate of USD 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cecily Brown achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (The Beautiful and Damned) in May this year with an auction result of USD 6,705,000.00 (€ 6,293,410.93).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Cecily Brown erzielte im März diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War to Present wurde die Arbeit The querulous mew für USD 346.500,00 (€ 318.708,61) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 120.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Cecily Brown erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (The Beautiful and Damned) im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.705.000,00 (€ 6.293.410,93).
